The fleece liners allow wetness to move through them, keeping baby's skin nice and dry.

Washable fleece liners will protect the nappy from the worst of the poo and keep baby's skin nice and dry as the wee runs through them into the lower levels of the nappy.
Be aware that they need to be washed 2-3 times before they work properly, before then wee will run off the top of them rather than soaking through, leading to possible leakage.
Washable microfleece liners are best used once baby is fully weened. Before then the poo can be quite liquid and squidgy and will need to be sluiced in the toilet to remove the poo before putting it in the nappy bucket to be washed with your nappies. Once baby is weaned things should be much more solid and so the poo will fall off the liner into the toilet quick readily. You'll then be left with a much cleaner liner to be stored in your bucket. Disposable nappy liners are much easier for the early months.
